What is MMI Support Group?
A service set up in November 2020, in Birmingham for people struggling with Mental Health Issues and Mental well-being during Lockdown. It was originally called Lockdown Support Group. In line with government guidelines this service allowed for up to 15 people to meet on a Saturday afternoon from 3pm till 6pm.
The service was so successful that it has continued after Lockdown lifted, hence the name change to MMI Support Group. A one of a kind service that responded to the needs of the people, delivered in a professional yet relaxed manner.
True to MMI values, we provide a homely environment and a safe space. A weekly topic is planned according to the needs and wishes of the group but always allows for people to share their views and concerns. We offer a self-expression platform which aims to boost self-esteem and increase confidence. There are also fun activities to encourage real human interaction.
We have covered a range of topics which has helped to raise the awareness of the affects and impact on people with their mental well-being. Discussions on Mental Health conditions continue to allow learning and better understanding so that we can help people overcome barriers and face daily challenges.
This service is bespoke in its delivery and needs to be experienced to fully appreciate its value.
We aim to improve the lives of individuals and their families and to empower each other.
MMI continue to work with the people to create a better community.
