Who We Are
Our organisation is a recognised charitable organisation, set up in 2016, founded by Mohammed Basharat, a qualified social worker.
We are based in Small Heath Birmingham, in the heart of Asian Community.
Our aim is to provide an opportunity for people struggling with social difficulties and encourage real human interaction. We are a family friendly environment which brings people together in a safe place, allowing them to relax, enjoy and improve their overall well-being through music and entertainment.
Our organisation is run by a team of volunteers who are experienced professionals. They are dedicated and committed to providing high-quality of care and support to all of our service users.
What we do?
MMI has been serving the community for over 8 years through a range of services and prides itself in reaching out and changing lives for the better through real human interaction.
Services that MMI offer include:
MMI Evening – MMI Evenings is a weekly gathering set in a safe family friendly environment providing support through live entertainment and real human interaction. This unique platform provides service users an opportunity to express themselves through songs, music and dance or showcase other talents such as poetry.
MMI Evening is every Saturday 6-11pm.
MMI Support Group – MMI Support group provides a weekly opportunity to raise awareness of issues which affect mental wellbeing and provide support for those struggling with mental health issues. Needs based topics are discussed and explored in a bespoke manner, with difficult subjects being balanced with fun activities. This unique venture has supported people through an extremely challenging time and has gone a step further in motivating and inspiring their personal growth.
MMI Support Group is held every Saturday 3-6pm
MMI Elderly Project – MMI Golden Years provides a fortnightly opportunity for those aged 50+ to meet, chat and take part in activities which enables them to feel less isolated and gain confidence.
Every fortnight on a Sunday 2-5pm
MMI ladies – MMI Ladies provides a monthly safe, female only environment promoting sisterhood. An opportunity to make new friends, while enjoying Live entertainment and good food.
MMI Ladies is held on the first Friday of the month from 7-10.30pm
MMI Men – MMI Men is a monthly safe and welcoming space, male only environment promoting brotherhood. An opportunity to make new friends, while enjoying Live entertainment and good food.
MMI Movies – MMI Movies is a quarterly sing-along movie night providing an opportunity to relax and enjoy a classic movie chosen by you. An evening with great company, good food and a good movie.
Melody Masters International (MMI) is a Birmingham based Community Interest Company (CIC) that was set up in 2016 to help and support communities through entertainment and real human interaction.
Mohammed Basharat BA, MA (Social Work) Founder / Director
Mohammed Basharat has vast experience and a sound background in Social and Community work as well as Entertainment. Inspired by his daughter who has autism, MMI was born. His strong empathy with people who face daily difficulties and suffer alone, led Basharat to take positive action and provide a platform to unwind, relax and take a break in a safe and professional environment.
Basharat is a Senior Radio Broadcaster & Specialist in Film and Music and a Professional Singer and DJ. Not only does he bring his own personal skills and professionalism to the stage but facilitates a platform for those that would not otherwise have the opportunity to showcase their talents. Targeted predominately at marginalised and under privileged people in society, Basharat aims to tackle obstacles and taboos in entertainment for real people.
Basharat aspires to innovate change and connect to ‘hard to reach’ service users. His long term vision is to one day have a dedicated MMI Centre and minibus that would enable many more people to access the valuable services that MMI has to offer. Basharat strives to make a difference to people’s lives and bring communities together in a fun, jovial and positive atmosphere.
